Let's get started!
This tutorial will explain you how to use Mahara and other tools from the SWITCH-Network.
Step 1 - Do I have an AAI-Login?
If you are a member of an educational institution in Switzerland it is very likely that you have an AAI-Login. If so, you should be able to get access to switchPortfolio without completing this tutorial:
- Check if your institution shows up in the drop-down menu on the right side.
- If you find your organisation, select it and follow the standard Log-In process.
If your Institution doesn't provide an AAI-Login for SWITCH tools, you have to create a SWITCH edu-ID (Step 2).
Step 2 - Creating a SWITCH edu-ID
With a SWITCH edu-ID you can start using Mahara by connecting to the SWITCHportfolio network. It is free!
Follow these steps to create a SWITCH edu-ID:
1. Open the page > http://projects.switch.ch/eduid
2. Click on Create & manage on the right side of your screen.
3. In the new window, click on Create SWITCH edu-ID account.
4. Next, choose Create a SWITCH edu-ID manually by clicking on manual registration page.
5. Fill in the form. You can use any E-mail address of yours. Maybe it is the best to choose a private adress and not the one from your organization. This allows you to use this account even if you should change your institution one day. Read and accept the Terms of Use. Finish by clicking on Create SWITCH edu-ID account
6. Once you have completed the form you get a confirmation E-mail. Open it and click on the appearing link to confirm your E-mail address.
7. Once you have done this you are able to modify your account data or to Log-In to switchPortfolio (Step 3).
Step 3 - Log-In with a SWITCH edu-ID
Once you have created your SWITCH edu-ID you can join our portfolio network on SWITCHportfolio. Please follow these steps:
1. Go to https://portfolio.switch.ch/.
2. Choose Anmelden über: and scroll down all the way until you find SWITCH edu-ID. Click on it and hit Anmelden.
3. Log-In with your new SWITCH edu-ID
After clicking Login you will enter the Portfolio. If it is your first Log-In you have to accept the terms and conditions.
Done! Now you are free to interact with your partner school. Enjoy mahara!
